About Us: The Faces Behind the Route

Welcome to Via Andina Travel! We are Fernando and Slavia, and we believe that the best way to discover the true soul of the Andes is to slow down, leave the rigid itineraries behind, and explore from the ground up.

For the last ten years, we have been partners in life, overlanding adventure, and the pursuit of the perfect sunrise. Together, we have traversed the sweeping highways, dusty desert tracks, and thin-air passes of the South American Altiplano, documenting our journey through thousands of original photographs.

Decades of Hospitality Roots
Our mission is backed by a lifetime of professional, boots-on-the-ground experience in the travel and regional hospitality sectors:

Fernando: Born in Germany, raised in the fast-paced energy of New York City, and carrying deep Bolivian and Chilean roots, I am a product of many worlds. My passion has always been photography and spreading hospitality. Over the decades, I have built, owned, and managed prominent regional hubs, including the Hotel Esmeralda in Coroico (Bolivia), Cafe Woodstock in Santa Cruz (Bolivia), and Arica Beach Rentals in Chile.

Slavia: A native of beautiful Arica, Chile, Slavia is the heart of our overlanding journeys. With a background as a local cook and a passionate eye for indigenous traditions, she brings a deep cultural connection to our routes—helping travelers uncover the unique stories, community heritage, and rich flavors that define the local kitchen.

We have paired our personal travel archives and local insider knowledge with world-class, trusted global travel partnerships. When you search for flights, book hotels, or reserve regional excursions through Via Andina Travel, you are using an engine curated by lifelong explorers who know these routes inside and out.

The Via Andina Philosophy: Real Expertise, Trusted Bookings

We didn’t want to build a generic booking website. We wanted a portal that combines first-hand overlanding insight with modern convenience. From high-altitude mountain passes to remote oases, we know the exact logistics it takes to pull off a seamless South American journey.

Support Our Journey:

Booking your travel through the affiliate links on our page doesn’t cost you a single cent extra, but it earns us a small commission that directly supports our ongoing documentation, photography project, and video creation. Thank you for your support, take your time, and let the Andes surprise you!
