Visa Requirements for Foreign Nationals
THE EMBASSY OF PERU IS CURRENTLY PROCESSING ALL VISA TYPES
-
Visa Exemption: Eligible citizens are granted a visitor entry stamp at the port of entry.
-
Authorized Stay: Stays are typically permitted for up to 90 days (and occasionally up to 183 days depending on agreements and immigration discretion). The precise allowed duration is stamped into your passport upon arrival.
-
Conditional Exemptions: Citizens of countries like India or Morocco who hold a valid, unexpired visa (with at least six months of validity remaining) for the US, Canada, UK, Australia, or Schengen Area can enter Peru visa-free.
| Requirement | Specification |
| Passport Validity | Must have at least 6 months of validity remaining beyond your arrival date. |
| Blank Pages | Minimum of two blank stamp pages available. |
| Onward Travel | Proof of return or departure flight out of Peru. |
| Financial Solvency | Evidence of funds (e.g., credit card or recent bank statements) may be requested. |
| Accommodation | Hotel bookings or proof of local accommodation. |
-
Business Visa: Requires an official letter from your employer and a local host/counterpart in Peru explaining the commercial purpose of your trip.
-
Work & Long-Term Visas: Pre-approved contracts via the Peruvian Ministry of Labor and the Superintendencia Nacional de Migraciones in Lima are necessary before the embassy can issue work visas.
-
Student Visas: Require proof of official enrollment in an accredited Peruvian educational institution and evidence of financial support.
-
Check Your Stamp: Always verify the entry stamp in your passport before leaving the immigration window. The officer determines your legally allowed length of stay, which may be shorter than the maximum theoretical limit.
-
Respect the Limits: Peru strictly enforces stay limits. Overstaying your authorized period incurs daily fines upon departure.
-
Virtual Migration Card (TAM): Most international airports use an electronic Tarjeta Andina de Migración. Keep your boarding pass and entry passport stamp safe throughout your trip, as local hotels may ask for them to verify tax-exempt tourist status.
